Blockchain-Based Supply Chain Finance: Smart Contracts and Trade Credit
Abstract
We develop a game-theoretic model to analyze how blockchain-enabled smart contracts transform supply chain financing. Our model shows that blockchain reduces information asymmetry between suppliers and financial institutions, leading to lower financing costs and improved supply chain coordination. Empirical tests using data from a major Chinese blockchain platform confirm our theoretical predictions.
